Melissa Dostal
Practice Office Manager, Registered Dental Assistant
I have been in the dental field for 35 years as a Registered Dental Assistant. I joined Cedar Rapids Family Dental Center - Abraham Family Dental November in 2022 as the practice manager.
I extremely enjoy my manager responsibilities while overseeing daily activities and making sure the office runs smoothly and the patient care is 100%! I am very blessed with the doctors and team that I work with daily. They are more like family to me than co-workers.
Outside of work, I love spending time with my husband, Dave, grown son, Nolan, our two dogs, Nattie and Lilly, cat, Olivey, and my two favorite grand-dogs, Motley and Crue. We love to go out to eat, cheer for our favorite team (the Kansas City Chiefs), go for drives to explore Iowa, and travel to warm places to vacation.

People are my passion! Well, that, and books, wine, and travel. My four children and their spouses, along with eight grandchildren under nine years old, keep me smiling and busy. I have spent 20 years in the dental field and I consider my co-workers family, as we have worked together for the majority of those 20 years.

I joined the CRFDC team in 2023. Prior to that I worked for another dental practice for 18 years. I enjoy greeting and talking to all of our patients. My goal is to provide excellent customer service and to exceed our patients’ expectations.
I currently reside in Cedar Rapids with my wonderful husband and beautiful daughter and adorable Shih Tzu named Lizzy. In my free time, I love spending time with family and friends, traveling, and shopping.

I love getting to meet new people! My goal is to always help patients feel welcome, comfortable, and prepared going into their appointments.
I grew up in Cedar Rapids and now live here with my husband, Dr. Tom, and our two golden retrievers, Willow and Goose. In my free time, I’m usually spending time with my family and friends, going for a run, traveling, or reading a good book!
Taylor Deggendorf

I graduated with my dental hygiene degree from Kirkwood in 2016 and began working in Cedar Rapids right after graduation, where I stayed for five years before moving to Colorado. There, I continued working as a dental hygienist and continued to expand my dental knowledge and learning the newest advancements. I recently moved back to the area to be closer to my family. I love learning all areas of dentistry to provide the most complete treatment possible.
In my spare time, I love to travel to the mountains, hike, attend sporting events, and spend time with my dog, Denver.

I love providing patients with a comprehensive experience of education and care, which is a passion of mine.
I enjoy spending time outdoors on walks, and ending the night with either a movie or good book. Give me your most beloved cooking and baking recipes! Baking is my favorite… I should say the eating of the desserts is the best part!
I was recently married in 2023, and we still need a honeymoon location – I am open to all vacationing location recommendations!

I have loved being part of the CRFDC team for six months now. I was raised in Cedar Rapids, IA, and graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Public Health from UNI in 2020 and from Kirkwood Community College with my dental hygiene license in 2023.
I have spent time in Haiti and Guatemala for service missions over the past few years, and strive to make a difference in underserved communities around the world. Oral health is an essential part of our systemic health, and here at CRFDC we aim to treat each patient as a whole!
Outside of hygiene, I love spending time with my boyfriend, Carter, and our puppy, Riggs, reading, traveling, and visiting with family and friends.

I began my dental career 28 years ago assisting with hygiene and general dentistry. My passion for patient care and attention to detail has led me to be a vital role with the Cedar Rapids Family Dental my entire career. My knowledge and tenure allows me to make patients feel at ease and comfortable, while building trust and confidence in their treatment procedures. I am dedicated to the patients and the practice.
In my spare time, I can be found with my husband or at a baseball diamond watching my son play the game he loves. We love to travel, especially when we can take our dog, Molly.
Kalyn Wise

I graduated from Kirkwood Community College in August of 2023 as a Registered Dental Assistant. Most of the time you will find me assisting chairside with Dr. Abraham. I love getting to meet new people and work with patients to ensure they are always comfortable and informed with the procedure that is happening!
During my free time, you would find me either reading a good book, binge watching a TV show, or hanging out with my family and friends!

I have been a Registered Dental Assistant for 40 years and have spent 24 years at Abraham Family Dentistry. I enjoy my work as a dental assistant and getting to know my patients!
I love spending time with my family: Mark, my three children and their spouses, and my three adorable granddaughters. I also enjoy bicycle riding, going for walks, hiking, and reading.
